Manuflex working with The King Alfred School. Manuflex and The King Alfred School were placed together by EDT to work on a project for Go4SET. The task was to design, plan and present their work for a Eco-friendly classroom. As part of the project the Students were introduced to the world of work and had to apply a number of  strategies in order to achieve their goal. Their task included:- Preparation, planning, design, material assessment, energy provision, siting and presentation to professionals. Rival schools were wide ranging in type and from across Somerset, Bristol and Cardiff. The King Alfred team won the Team Award for their ability to work effectively as a team and make decisions as a group, one of which was far from straightforward. Manuflex Managing Director Ray Stewart said “It was a privilege to work with the staff and pupils at KAS, they were hard working, diligent and are a credit to the school and themselves”. Manuflex would like to thank Mr Kelbrick and students Matt, Ismail, Becky, Alice and Hannah for involving Manuflex in such an enjoyable and worthwhile task.

Manuflex is this month appearing in Model Engineer Magazine. For the first time Manuflex features on the front of Model Engineer magazine, the article outlines the story of how the locomotive the ”Thomas Telford”came into being. Manuflex was asked to provide the metal work for the Loco (not a train you will note – it only becomes a train after carriages are added). The design was taken from a photo of the full size loco and drawings supplied by the Bristol Society of Model and Experimental Engineers. Their track and sidings are based at Ashton Court in Bristol and they are open to the public during the summer. Manuflex Managing Director – Ray Stewart – was privileged to drive the train, minus any passengers, during a recent visit. BSMEE wrote to thank Manuflex and said that “Manuflex became part of the team not just a supplier”. More pictures are available on the Manuflex web site.
